The Best Things in Life Aren’t Things at All

As we hurry about purchasing gifts, attending parties and trying to create the perfect holiday, I felt a need to take pause and remind myself that the best things in life aren’t things at all. So as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ I want to offer the following tips to aid in cultivating more joy during this holiday season:
1. Don’t Over Spend on gifts – Gifts should be given with intention and purpose and should not cause stress –they should also be within your budget. If funds are limited be creative and focus on the small things that will bring joy.

2. Spend Some Time Volunteering – Although the holidays bring great joy to most for others the holiday season can be a reminder of loss and regret. Bring some holiday cheer to others by volunteering or inviting someone who may be alone to dinner.

3. Focus on What You Have – There is always something more to buy however during this season take the time to focus on what you have. Be grateful for all that you have and take the time to be concerned about tomorrow problems tomorrow.

4. Spend Time With Those Who Matter Most – As the years progress memories of the actual gifts you give and receive may fade however the memories you create with your family and friends are often cherished and called upon for years to come. So this Christmas choose to spend some time creating memories that will last a lifetime.
